NYK to raise transatlantic rates
NYK Line said Thursday it will raise rates on transatlantic services by $150 per TEU and $300 per FEU beginning Dec. 1.
The rate increase applies to dry and reefer containers and will be charged in both directions. It follows a similar action announced earlier this week by OOCL, NYK's partner in the Grand Alliance, for the transatlantic starting Jan. OOCL's increases were slightly higher and differentiated between U.S. East Coast and West Coast shipments.
'This rate restoration initiative is necessary to address the severe economic challenges associated with NYK operating services in the transatlantic trade,' NYK said in a statement.
