NYK, Tokyo LNG Tanker to jointly own LNG carrier

Nippon Yusen Kaisha and Tokyo LNG Tanker Co., a subsidiary of Tokyo Gas., have ordered a 153,000 cubic-meter Moss-type liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier from Kawasaki Shipbuilding.

Tokyo LNG Tanker will own 70 percent of the vessel with NYK owning the remainder.

The new LNG carrier will go into service in March 2009, managed by NYK and serving Tokyo Gas for a contract period of 20 years, initially in an existing LNG project in Australia and Malaysia.
