O-I starts supply chain organization

Ohio-based Owens-Illinois (O-I), a glass container manufacturer, has announced plans to create a supply chain operation with a new technology group to leverage its research and development.
Al Stroucken, chairman and chief executive officer, said the move should give O-I better visibility in its supply chain and in turn give it greater flexibility when shipping goods to customers.
The change in structure will have Ed Snyder, who joined the company in 2007 as senior vice president and chief process improvement officer, lead the supply chain organization. Snyder has 25 years of experience in logistics management.
