A great deal of cargo destined for New England moves through the Port of New York and New Jersey, he notes, much of it bound right to consignees in Rhode Island.
“There is a lot of cargo right here. Instead of cargo going up to Boston and then moving down here, carriers can save a day. Cargo can move on a Providence bill of lading,” he said.
