OECD SETS UP AD HOC MARITIME SECURITY GROUP

OECD SETS UP AD HOC MARITIME SECURITY GROUP    The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development has set up an ad hoc working group to review maritime security policy.
   The ad hoc group was created by the OECD’s maritime transport committee.
   The new group will hold its first meeting on March 7 and 8 and will bring industry and government together to discuss security issues.
   An OECD official said that the ad hoc group will look at the outcome of the recent “Intersessional Working Group on Maritime Security” of the International Maritime Organization, which met on Feb. 11-15.
   The OECD’s ad hoc working group on maritime security will be chaired by Bruce Carlton, the associate director for policy and international trade at the U.S. Department of Transportation. Carlton also chairs the OECD’s maritime transport committee.
