Old Dominion Freight Line to buy UW Freight Line assets

Old Dominion Freight Line Inc., a less-than-truckload national carrier based in Thomasville, N.C., said today it will purchase selected assets of UW Freight Line for an undisclosed amount.

The transaction includes Salt Lake City, Utah.-based UW Freight Line’s accounts receivables, all revenue equipment, office equipment, all 19 owned service centers, the corporate office, information systems and a service center under construction in Casper, Wyo.

UW Freight Line posted revenue of about $23 million for its fiscal year ending June 30, 2005.

“UW Freight Line is a well-run company with a strong franchise in its five-state market and they have built an excellent reputation for providing quality transportation service. The move is consistent with our growth and service strategy, and is also in keeping with our focus of building a world-class multi-regional and inter-regional network,” said Earl E. Congdon, chairman and chief executive officer of Old Dominion Freight Line.
