Old Dominion opens Wisconsin facility

Old Dominion Freight Line said Monday it has opened a new service center in Madison, Wis.

The center is designed to complement Old Dominion’s four existing service centers in Wisconsin, where the trucking industry hauls roughly 90 percent of the state’s manufactured tonnage. The 24-door facility is intended for a radius of 50 miles around Madison, the state capital.

“Over the past few years, we have seen considerable growth in the Madison market thanks to the city’s proximity to key manufacturing areas in the Midwest,” said Michael Quillman, service center manager at the Old Dominion Madison Service Center.

Old Dominion said it is investing $100 million to $120 million in real estate purchases and expansion projects in 2011.
