Oman Air-Cargolux JV add 2nd Chennai service

Oman Air has doubled freighter capacity to the Indian city with the help of partner Cargolux.    Oman Air has added a second freighter with weekly scheduled service to Chennai India from Muscat using a leased aircraft operated by Cargolux.
   Chennai is the center for manufacturing in southern India.
   The two airlines entered into a joint venture in April through which Carglolux provides Boeing 747 freighter capacity and Oman Air offers belly capacity on its passenger aircraft that fly through Oman’s capital. The goal is to enable Oman Air and Cargolux to access new freighter destinations and contribute to the development of Oman’s logistics hub.
   Officials said in a statement that they expect the joint venture to add Bombay as a second freighter destination in India, and eventually expand air cargo service to China, Europe, Africa and the United States.
   Luxembourg-based Cargloux is partnering with Oman Air to access the Indian market.
