Online hearing planned for N.Y.-N.J. toll hikes The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey will hold an online public hearing on its proposal to raise tolls at it bridge and tunnel crossings as well as a fare hikes for riders on its PATH commuter rail system.
   Bridge and tunnel tolls for passenger cars will be hiked from $6 to $8 under the plan, and similar-sized increases are planned for trucks.
   The hearing will be held at 11 a.m., Dec. 17. It is the first time the agency has held an online hearing to gather public comment on an issue.
   The online hearing can be accessed on the home page of the port authority’s Web site, www.panynj.gov. It will begin with a brief presentation about the port authority’s toll and fare proposal. Following the proposal, comments will be accepted.
