OOCL adding Rotterdam to Irish feeder

OOCL adding Rotterdam to Irish feeder Orient Overseas Container Line’s United Kingdom office said Monday it is adding calls at Rotterdam in the Netherlands to its weekly Irish Feeder Service (SIX).
   The SIX service uses two 868-TEU ships in a butterfly rotation calling Rotterdam, Dublin, Belfast, Greenock, Southampton, Dublin, Belfast and back to Rotterdam.
   OOCL’s inland fuel surcharge within the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland will increase from 7.92 percent to 8.8 percent, effective Nov. 5.
   In a separate development, the U.K. office said it is phasing out the issue of Notices of Arrival (NOAs) by fax and instead promoting their issue by e-mail in order to reduce its carbon footprint and improve business efficiencies.
   Customers should send their company name and address and e-mail addresses of the nominated recipients to jane.howard@oocl.com with Fax Elimination Project in the subject line.
   Alternatively, NOAs can be obtained electronically from Cargosmart (www.cargosmart.com, the Internet shipping portal established by OOCL in late 2000.
