OOCL, Diana Containerships sign time charter agreement

The Hong Kong-based ocean carrier will charter a 5,576-TEU vessel from Diana Containerships starting April 8.    Hong Kong-based ocean carrier Orient Overseas Container Line Ltd. (OOCL) has entered into a time charter deal with containership lessor Diana Containerships Inc., which will start April 8.
   OOCL will charter Diana’s Great, a 5,576-TEU containership, at a going rate of $7,300 per day, minus a 3.75 percent commission paid to third parties, Diana said.
   Per the contract, OOCL will have the vessel for a period of nine to 12 months. The contract is expected to generate an estimated $1.97 million of gross revenue by the end of the nine-month period.
   According to ocean carrier schedule and capacity database BlueWater Reporting, the vessel was previously chartered out to Maersk Line last year, sailing on the Danish ocean carrier’s ME3/Prime 3.
