OOCL expands order for 13,000-TEU ships

OOCL expands order for 13,000-TEU ships
The parent company of OOCL said Tuesday it has increased an order for new containerships.
Orient Overseas (International) Ltd. said in a notice to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange that it will order 10 instead of six 13,000-TEU containerships from Korea’s Samsung.
The company said it has entered into a contract for four additional ships at the same price, about $136 million each, for a total of $544 million. The ships will be delivered in 2013 and 2014.
The order comes on top of an order announced in March for six ships to be delivered in 2013 at a total cost of $816 million.
