OOCL extends intra-Asia service to SE Asia

OOCL extends intra-Asia service to SE Asia    Shipping line OOCL said Monday it is extending the rotation of its intra-Asia KTX3 service to include three Southeast Asian ports.
   The service has linked several ports in Japan with China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Now, Singapore, Jakarta and Port Klang will be added. The new rotation is Osaka, Tokyo, Nagoya, Yokkaichi, Kobe, Keelung, Hong Kong, Shekou, Singapore, Jakarta, Port Klang, Singapore, Shekou, Hong Kong and Osaka.
   The loop, previously operated with two 2,200-TEU vessels, will now be operated with four such vessels. American Shipper affiliate ComPair Data pegged the capacity of the vessels at 2,700 TEUs. OOCL said 'the service has been enhanced in response to increasing customer demand in the region.'
   The new rotation takes effect June 27.
   OOCL also said Monday it is raising rates on services from Northeast Asia to Australia. Freight rates from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan and Korea to Australia will increase $250 per TEU on July 15.
