Hong Kong-based steamship line OOCL said Wednesday it will open an OOCL (U.K.) Ltd office in Belfast, Northern Ireland, effective Oct. 1.

'OOCL has many important customers in Northern Ireland and this development is consistent with our global policy of having our own offices in our key markets,' said Peter Ip, managing director OOCL (U.K.), in a statement. 'We appreciate the significant contribution made by G Heyn & Sons Ltd., our agents with whom we have had an excellent relationship for more than 25 years, in jointly building up OOCL's profile in the Northern Ireland market.'

OOCL is a wholly owned subsidiary of Orient Overseas (International) Ltd., which operates more than 230 offices in 58 countries.
