OOCL showcases environmental efforts Hong Kong-based shipping company OOCL has created a section of its Web site to highlight its environmental credentials.
   The site www.oocl.com/eng/aboutoocl/Environmentalcare/ is divided into three main sections: Reducing emissions, promoting care for the environment and conserving resources. Also included are links to environmental agencies and organizations around the world and a downloadable diagram of environmentally friendly features on OOCL newbuilding vessels.
   'Container shipping is the most environmentally sound way to transport large volumes of goods across the world,' said Philip Chow, chief executive officer of OOCL. 'However, we realize that it is a very large industry and inevitably has an effect on the environment. In today's world, every business in every industry must proactively work to reduce harmful emissions. We at OOCL encourage sustainable economic development through innovative and voluntary measures, and we are pleased to publicize our efforts on this new Web site.'
