OOCL, Yang Ming rationalize China/India loops

OOCL, Yang Ming rationalize China/India loops    Liner carriers OOCL and Yang Ming have merged two jointly operated China/India loops into one, according to a report this week from Alphaliner and confirmed by American Shipper affiliate ComPair Data.
The two lines have folded their joint CIS service, started four months ago, and incorporated some of the calls from that loop into their CPX service, which now has a rotation of Shanghai, Ningbo, Shekou, Singapore, Karachi, Pipavav, Mumbai, Penang, Singapore, Hong Kong and Shanghai.
New to the CPX are calls at Pipavav and Mumbai, while calls at Mundra and Kaohsiung have been dropped. Ports formerly covered in the CIS but not called in the revamped CPX are Colombo and Port Kelang.
The CPX operates with five vessels, three from Yang Ming and two from OOCL, with an average capacity of 3,994 TEUs. COSCO Container Lines takes slots on the service.
ComPair Data shows that OOCL participates in two other services directly linking China and India: the Emirates Line-operated Hyper Galex, and the Zim-operated Asia-Med EMX loop, which only calls India on the eastbound leg from Europe, giving it relatively uncompetitive transit times from China.
