Oxnard cold storage firm goes with chemical-free system
Oxnard-based cold storage and logistics firm Del Norte Distribution said it has installed a new ozone-based cold chain management system at the firm's 2-million-cubic-foot cold storage facility near the Port of Los Angeles, according to a release Monday.
The firm said the new Purfresh Cold Storage system, provided by Fremont-based Purfresh, 'enhances produce quality and extends the shelf life of Del Norte's oranges, apples and bananas by reducing decay, cross-contamination and controlling ethylene levels in its storage rooms.'
The chemical-free Purfresh system reduces Del Norte's overall chemical use and improves working conditions through the firm's operations, the company said.
