Pacer expands distribution deal with Yamaha

Pacer Distribution Services has signed a multiyear agreement with Yamaha Motor Corp., U.S.A., to provide a range of transportation and distribution services to Yamaha’s motorsports and watercraft divisions, the company said Thursday.
The agreements expands an existing relationship between the two companies.
Vehicles manufactured by these divisions include top-selling Yamaha motorcycles, ATVs, side-by-sides and, Waverunners, along with other on- and off-road vehicles.
Yamaha’s products manufactured in Asia are shipped each month to the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles. Under the new contract, Pacer Distribution Services picks up the containers and drays them to its warehouse in Lynwood, Calif. There, Pacer performs a variety of value-added services for Yamaha and then manages distribution of the vehicles to Yamaha’s dealer network on the West Coast and other regional distribution centers.
Under a long-standing relationship between the two companies, Pacer has historically provided U.S. rail service to Yamaha Motor.
“We had an existing relationship in place and Pacer is a sizable, publically traded company, which provides some transparency to its operational fortitude,” said Jason Schweizer, division manager for Yamaha Motors. “Pacer’s solid corporate structure and capital flexibility enables it to expand with Yamaha’s growth and service the company’s changing needs.”
Pacer Distribution Services President Mike Stark said Yamaha has long been one of Pacer’s key strategic business partners “and we work frequently with them to develop customizable solutions to expand their business.”
