Pacer Stacktrain expands Mexican service to U.S. Northeast    Pacer Stacktrain, a unit of Pacer International Inc., a provider of freight transportation and logistics services in North America, said Wednesday it has expanded its “PacerMex Nonstop” intermodal freight service to the U.S. Northeast.
   The service moves containerized freight travels in-bond by double-stack rail, eliminating the need to stop for customs clearance at the U.S.-Mexican border.
   Instead, “customs clearance takes place at the final destination,” said Tom Shurstad, president of Pacer Stacktrain. As part of the service, Pacer processes the in-bond permit at Laredo, Texas.
   Initially introduced in March to provide long-haul intermodal service between Mexico and the U.S. Midwest, “PacerMex Nonstop” has been extended to Kearny, N.J.; Philadelphia and Harrisburg, Pa.; and Baltimore, which are both origin and destination points.
   In Mexico, the service reaches Monterrey, San Luis Potosi, Queretaro, and Mexico City.
   Shurstad said CSX Transportation will be Pacer’s underlying rail carrier between the Northeast and the Midwest. TFM is the underlying rail carrier in Mexico.
