Pacer’s Prokop named to NIT League, HTC boards

PacerÆs Prokop named to NIT League, HTC boards Kent E. Prokop, president of Pacer Distribution Services Inc., has been appointed to the boards of the National Industrial Transportation League and the Harbor Transportation Club in Southern California.
   Prokop will serve as a director-at-large on the NIT League board for a one-year term through March 1, 2009. He was named to the position by NIT League chairman Curt Warfel. The league, one of the oldest U.S. freight industry associations, has about 700 separate company members.
   Prokop was also named to a one-year term as a director-at-large with the Harbor Transportation Club. Founded in 1939, the HTC works to spread cooperation and communication among freight industry sectors in Southern California.
   A 30-year veteran of the transportation industry, Prokop has been president of Pacer Distribution Services since April 2004. Based in South Gate near Los Angeles, the firm is a subsidiary of Pacer International Inc. Before joining Pacer, he served as vice president of Pacer Cartage for five years. Prior positions include general manager of Pacer predecessor Interstate Consolidation Inc., and positions at ABF and Roadway Express.
