Pacific Sunwear streamlines management, eliminates COO position Casual apparel retailer Pacific Sunwear of California Inc. said Monday that Chief Operating Officer Wendy Burden will leave the company and the COO position will be eliminated.
   The move, according to the Anaheim-based firm, is part of an effort to streamline operations and create greater accountability at the senior management level.
   Burden is leaving to pursue 'other interests,' the firm said in a release.
   Other changes will see oversight of the firm's distribution center and global logistics-trade compliance departments shift to Chief Financial Officer Gerald Chaney.
   The firm's information services, real estate and construction departments will now report directly to Chief Executive Sally Frame Kasaks.
   Starting as a surfboard shop in Newport Beach in 1980, Pacific Sunwear has grown to a $1.4 billion-a-year operation with more than 15,000 employees. The retailer operates more than 1,200 stores in 50 states and Puerto Rico under the names PacSun, PacSun Outlet, d.e.m.o., and One Thousand Steps.
