PACTL sets new volume records in Q1

The air cargo terminal operator achieved new throughput records for March and the first quarter of 2016.    Air cargo terminal operator Shanghai Pudong International Airport Cargo Terminal Co., Ltd. (PACTL) processed 142,297 metric tons of cargo in March and 367,791 metric tons of cargo in the first quarter of 2016, a year-over-year increase of 6.8 percent and 1.5 percent, respectively.
   “These were the strongest results in both the month of March and the first quarter of any year in the company’s history,” PACTL said.
   During the quarter, PACTL’s import cargo volumes inched up 1.4 percent from the first quarter of 2015 to 157,270 metric tons. Meanwhile, the company’s export cargo volumes for the quarter rose 1.5 percent year-over-year to 210,521 metric tons.
   Overall, PACTL processed 49.2 percent of the air cargo handled at Shanghai Pudong International Airport during the quarter, a 0.4 percent increase from the first quarter of 2015.
   PACTL operates three cargo terminals at Shanghai Pudong International Airport and is comprised of three shareholders, which include Shanghai Airport (Group) Co., Ltd. (51 percent), Lufthansa Cargo AG (29 percent) and JHJ Logistics Management Co. Ltd. (20 percent).
