Pahnke has been a manager at Schenker since 1990, initially at the Berlin office and then serving as the managing director for the new German Lander until 2000. In 1997, he also assumed management of the newly founded Gustrow office. Since early 2000, he has been responsible for a series of e-commerce projects.
