Panalpina buys Australian partner

Panalpina buys Australian partner    Swiss freight forwarder Panalpina has acquired its long-time Australian partner Apollo Forwarding to expand its reach in the Oceania region.
   Panalpina has worked with the Adelaide, South Australia-based firm for more than a decade.
   While Panalpina will benefit from Apollo's local know-how and customer relationships, the company will contribute its worldwide network, standardized systems applications, tailor-made customer services and global sales team to strengthen Apollo's service portfolio.
   'Together we will further develop our industry specific logistics solutions for local and global customers. In addition we will focus on the winery and automotive markets in South Australia,” said Karl Weyeneth, Panalpina’s chief operating officer, in a statement.
   Apollo’s employees will remain with the company. This includes Managing Director Matthew Caudle, who has been appointed business unit manager of Panalpina Adelaide.
