Panalpina starts Ludhiana, India branch

   Panalpina has opened a branch office in Ludhiana in northwestern India.
   It’s the second India office the Swiss freight forwarder has launched recently, with a new office in Jaipur opening two weeks ago.
   “Ludhiana in north India is home to thousands of large and medium-sized companies and is one of India’s fastest growing textile cities,” the company said in a statement. “Indian and international companies in Ludhiana, Punjab, produce not only woolen goods, hosiery, knitwear and accessories, but also automobile components, bicycles and bicycle parts.”
    René Wernli, managing director for Panalpina India, said the company will focus on the fashion, retail and automotive sectors. Aside from Jaipur, the company operates northern India offices in Delhi and Kolkata.
