PANALPINA TEAMS WITH GERMANY’S RHENUS AG

   Swiss logistics group Panalpina said its German subsidiary has formed an alliance with Rhenus AG to develop joint services serving the intercontinental logistics needs of German and other European shippers.

   Panalpina and Rhenus will focus on signing long-term logistics partnerships with clients mostly in the consumer goods, chemicals and automotive industries. The two companies said they have already signed several contracts to develop complex intercontinental programs.

   The two companies will coordinate their activities through    an integrated logistics solutions group, which will pull resources and expertise from both organizations to create customized logistics services for shippers.

   Rhenus, with more than $600 million in annual sales, offers logistics and technology services through a network of distribution centers in Europe.

   Panalpina specializes in global air and ocean forwarding, but will also offer the services of its new logistics consulting subsidiary, Avalog.
