Panama Canal Authority gets first credit rating from Moody’s

Panama Canal Authority gets first credit rating from Moody’s Moody’s Investors Services has given the Panama Canal Authority an A2 credit rating, the first time the authority has received an investment grade rating from one of the world's top credit rating agencies.
   The 'A' rating classifies the authority as 'upper-medium grade and subject to low credit risk.”
   Officials at the authority said the rating “reaffirms Panama's growing presence in the global marketplace.”
   “This announcement is a matter of national pride for Panama, because it is the result of the business model we use to manage the canal to ensure its efficiency, safety and profitability,' said Alberto Alem'n Zubieta, authority administrator and chief executive officer. 'This also underscores the dynamic growth and development of Panama — its booming economy, combined with the ongoing historic canal expansion project and the effective management of the canal, all contributed to the high score the ACP received.”
