Panama Canal plans repairs
The Panama Canal Authority said it will temporarily close lanes Wednesday through Friday to perform repairs.
The West lane of Gatun Locks will be out of service from 6 p.m. Wednesday to 7 p.m. Friday; therefore, relay operations will be conducted on the East lane. Closing the West lane of Gatun Locks is necessary in order to perform upper jaws boring on Miter Gate 8 and inspection of Miter Gate 7.
Restricted lockages will be performed in the West lane of Pedro Miguel Locks from after midnight Thursday through 11:59 p.m. Friday. These restricted lockages are necessary in order to perform critical tow track repairs on the track section of the sidewall close to Miter Gate 61.
