PeopleNet launches iPad fleet management app

   PeopleNet has developed a new iPad app that provides fleet managers access to critical event alerts, the onboard computing and carrier fleet communications software provider said this week at its user conference in Boca Raton, Fla.
   The company said the app is targered at safety and maintenance managers.
   Randy Boyles, PeopleNet vice president, said that the new app can push information from a carrier’s PeopleNet system out to mobile devices in real-time, allowing quick response by managers on the go.
   The app provides hours-of-service status, critical event details, and vehicle location data, and allows for driver messaging. The application’s browser also provides access to event information around stability, sudden deceleration or acceleration, and alerts based on safety-related fault codes, and metrics like tire pressure.
   The company also announced that a Spanish language version of its Blu.2 onboard computer is now available.
