Pet food maker signs up with Transplace for TMS

   Ainsworth Pet Nutrition has selected third party logistics services and software provider Transplace to handle transportation management for all its outbound shipments, Transplace said Tuesday.
   The deal will see Transplace implement its transportation management system (TMS) to enhance process automation and achieve greater visibility to reduce transportation costs and improve operational efficiency for Ainsworth, which makes pet food and snacks in the United States.
   “In order to better position the company for growth, we brought in a new management team from leading consumer packaged goods companies, who discovered we were in need of a comprehensive transportation management solution that would allow us to better manage our transportation operations,” said Michael Green, senior vice president at Ainsworth Pet Nutrition. “After a comprehensive search, it was clear that Transplace brought the tools, capabilities and CPG industry expertise we needed, and the company’s size and culture were an excellent fit for our organization.”
   Ainsworth will manage planning and execution of truckload (TL) and less-than-truckload (LTL) shipments, freight audit and payment, and management of carrier contracts on the Transplace TMS.
