Philadelphia port promotes dredging    Philadelphia Regional Port Authority said it has launched a Web site to support deepening the main shipping channel in the Delaware River from 40 feet to 45 feet.
   The site “will detail the economic benefits of the project, specify the facts about its environmental impact and counter the sometimes false and misleading claims of opponents,” the authority said 'Given the facts about the project and its economic benefits, we believe that fair minds will see the overwhelming need for the deepening project and the tremendous benefits it will bring to the region,” said John H. Estey, PRPA chairman.
   Last year the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said it intended to commence the main channel deepening, but the State of Delaware is seeking a preliminary injunction in U.S. District Court barring dredging until two state environmental approvals are given.
