Philadelphia to benefit as Hamburg Sud’s Trident Service goes weekly

Philadelphia to benefit as Hamburg SudÆs Trident Service goes weekly Philadelphia Regional Port Authority said its Packer Avenue Marine Terminal will benefit from upgrades to two liner services that call there.
   Hamburg Sud's Trident Service” which operates in a pendulum rotation between ports in Australia/New Zealand, the U.S. East Coast and Europe, will increase frequency from fortnightly to weekly in March. Hamburg Sud is adding two vessels to the service's rotation.
   'Hamburg Sud's Trident Service has been an extremely important addition to the Port of Philadelphia's roster of services,' said Sean Mahoney, the Philadelphia port's marketing director. 'Since its start in 2006, it not only bolstered our connections with Australia and New Zealand, but gave the port a direct connection to ports in Europe for the first time since the 1980s. The service's new weekly frequency is indeed great news for all the shippers who regularly make use of this excellent service.'
   The port also noted it will benefit by a decision by Mediterranean Shipping Co. to add a Montevideo port call to its busy East Coast of South America service.
