Pilot Freight Services to expand in Q1

The freight forwarder will open new stations in Vancouver, B.C., and Mexico City next year.    Pilot Freight Services is planning to open stations in Mexico City and Vancouver, B.C., during the first quarter.
   These locations, which will be Pilot’s fourth and fifth international stations, will offer air, ground and ocean services.
   Officials said customers had been specifically asking for a Pilot location in Mexico, and the new facility will give the company access to Mexico’s growing manufacturing economy. The location in Vancouver will allow the company to capitalize on the heavy traffic that flows to the city from Seattle, L.A. and San Francisco, according to a company press release. The company also hopes to see increased Asian volumes flowing through the Vancouver station.
   “We are constantly looking for ways to extend our support-service offerings for our customers, while at the same time expanding opportunities for growth and new business, especially internationally. That’s exactly what Mexico City and Vancouver will offer and why we are looking forward to opening these new stations,” said Gordon Branov, Pilot’s executive vice president of business development, stated. “Both offices will help facilitate more business in and out of Canada and Mexico, and will allow Pilot to harbor new relationships as we continue to grow.
   Alberto Ocha, who has made a 17-year career in international freight forwarding, will manage the Mexico City station. Lygdel DeLeon, a 13-year industry veteran, will be the head of the Vancouver facility.
