Pilot program in Nansha cutting customs inspections Customs at the Port of Guangzhou port recently cleared a shipment under its new 'one shipment, one clearance,' plan, officials at Guangzhou's deepwater container terminal said.
   At the end of October, three containers transferred from the Huangpu river port to the Nansha deepwater port (both fall under the auspices of the Port of Guangzhou) by shuttle barge and loaded onto a mother vessel at Nansha without double clearance.
   Under the new program, customs clearance at either location is recognized and accepted by officials without double inspection, as has traditionally been the case.
   Currently the program applies to shipments carried from three terminals in Huangpu and nearby Dongguan by registered barges.
   The program is designed to enable Nansha, the only deepwater port in the western Pearl River Delta, to provide more efficient movement of containers from Guangzhou's myriad river ports.
