Port Canaveral change of command

Port Canaveral change of command

Coast Guard Station Port Canaveral is holding a change of command ceremony Friday, with Chief Warrant Officer Mary Ward being relieved by Chief Warrant Officer Michael Locke.

The 10 a.m. ceremony at Coast Guard Station Port Canaveral will be followed immediately by a retirement ceremony for Chief Warrant Officer Ward.

The change of command ceremony is a time-honored tradition in keeping with naval tradition. The procedure was designed to ensure that only duly authorized officers held command and that all aboard were aware of an order’s authenticity.
