Port Canaveral names Morefield director of planning

Florida’s Port Canaveral has appointed Wade Morefield to the newly created position of director of planning.

Morefield was a city planner in Melbourne, Fla. and is a former director of planning for the city of Anniston, Ala.

“Port Canaveral’s growth and vision for the future involves such varied and diverse projects and goals that it became necessary to take our planning efforts to the next level,” said Stan Payne, Port Canaveral’s chief executive officer. “Instead of each department independently planning its projects and goals, Wade will serve as the focal person for strategic planning for the entire organization and will ensure that all efforts are aligned with the port’s overall mission.”

Major ongoing projects at the port include the widening of George King Boulevard, development of the north cargo area and redevelopment of the Cove restaurant and entertainment area on the south side.
