Port Everglades marks cruise milestone

The daily cruise segment of operations at Port Everglades, which generates $3.5 million in revenues for the port each year, has reached the 15-million-passenger mark, the port said Friday.

'Our daily cruise operators make a significant contribution to our local community,' said Phillip Allen, port director, in a statement recognizing the milestone.

Port Everglades is an industry leader in the market for longer cruise trips, but also serves two carriers for day trips, with an estimated 775,000 passengers sailing on the trips from the port each year.
