Port Everglades plans China trade mission

Port Everglades plans China trade mission Officials from Port Everglades, Broward County and companies that do business with the port will conduct a trade mission in China June 2 through June 14.
   Port director Phillip Allen said the port conducts a major trade mission each year'last year's was to Europe'and China was chosen for the 2006 trade mission because of the growing importance of trade between China and South Florida.
   Allen said the 30-person delegation will visit Shanghai first. Allen and port assistant director for business development Manuel Almira will then go to Hong Kong, later rejoining the rest of the delegation in Beijing.
   Broward County Mayor Ben Graber will lead the delegation, which will also include representatives from the shipping industry, manufacturers, attorneys, and real estate companies trying to attract China-related trade offices to Broward County.
