Port Industry Day agenda set

U.S. Maritime Administrator Sean T. Connaughton will be the keynote speaker at the seventh annual Port of New York-New Jersey Port Industry Day program, Oct. 11 at the CNJ Railroad Terminal in Jersey City.

   Richard M. Larrabee, director of the port commerce department of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, will also speak about the state of the port.

   Stephen Dowd, vice president, infrastructure, for the Ontario Teachers Pension Plan and a representative from Deutsche Bank’s RREEF Infrastructure Investments, will discuss their investments in port infrastructure. Earlier this year, Ontario teachers purchased New York Container Terminal and Global Terminal, while RREEF bought Maher Terminals.

   Robert Lieber, president of the New York City Economic Development Corp., will speak about the changing waterfront. Jack Lettiere, chairman of Nation’sPort, will speak about infrastructure development.

   Raymond Wisniewski, president of National Retail Systems Inc., whose company recently entered into a joint venture with the Chinese company Sinotrans, will speak about logistics. Michael Nachamkin, a senior vice president at ProLogis, will talk about the Portfields program that aims to develop brownfield sites near the port into warehouse and distribution facilities.
