Marchand described several key infrastructure improvements and the addition of new capacities at the Brunswick terminals that include:
' Expansion of auto processing facilities to the south side of Colonel’s Island.
' Additional rail and cargo capacity to support increased volumes in both grain and automobiles.
' Upgrades to port authority’s docks to service larger ships.
During his annual State of the Port speech, Marchand said there had been a 10 percent increase in activity at Colonel’s Island Terminal in fiscal year ended June 30, to 1.25 million tons.
Bulk cargo was up 41 percent to 438,671 tons at the grain facility, while automobile traffic increased a modest 1.4 percent.
Total tonnage for all terminals was 2.43 million tons.

In September, Bunge North America, one of the nation’s leading agribusiness and food companies, announced a major agreement with the GPA to coordinate shipments of agriculture products through the Port of Brunswick for all of the Southeast.
