Port of Catoosa taps Barnhart for temporary crane service

The inland river port in Northeast Oklahoma established an agreement with Barnhart Crane & Rigging Co., which will place a crane at the port for a limited time while the port’s main dock undergoes a renovation project.    Port of Catoosa, an inland river port in Northeast Oklahoma, reached an agreement with the Memphis, Tenn.-based lifting and logistics contractor Barnhart Crane & Rigging Co., which will place a crane at the port for a limited time in order to ensure no service disruption while the port undergoes a multi-million dollar renovation at its main dock, the Port of Catoosa said.
The Demag CC2600 crane will be placed at the Port of Catoosa’s Low Water Wharf Dock.
It will operate in ‘superlift’ mode, which will provide a lifting capacity of up to 600 tons, Barnhart Project Manager Bob Possel said.
Over the next several months, Barnhart will handle the logistics for components shipped to the port, which will be used to upgrade a power plant in eastern Oklahoma, Port of Catoosa Port Director Bob Portiss said. In addition, the crane will be available to customers that require crane service while the main dock is under renovation.
The crane, which will be operated by Barnhart employees, is very mobile and can easily be relocated elsewhere at the port.
“Because the crane is mobile, it can be utilized to off-load barges at the Low Water Wharf Dock, load rail cars north of the Main Loading Dock or load over-the-road trucks almost anywhere within the port,” Barnhart Senior Vice President Jeff Latture said.
