Port of Felixstowe handles record container moves The Port of Felixstowe last week achieved a record 5,586 container moves from a vessel operated by China Shipping Container Lines, thought to be the largest ever exchange of containers at a port in the United Kingdom.
   The vessel was the 8,468-TEU “CSCL America,” deployed by China Shipping on its weekly Asia/Europe AEX1 service.
   “We are delighted that the 'CSCL America' should be the first ship in Felixstowe to achieve this milestone in crane moves,” said Robert Hughes, general manager of China Shipping UK. “It confirms the commitment of China Shipping to concentrate their services between the U.K. and Asia in Felixstowe, and highlights the importance of the U.K. in the line’s schedule.”
   China Shipping is introducing a series of four 9,600-TEU vessels on to the AEX1 by early summer, when they will operate alongside four vessels of about 8,500 TEUs.
   Hutchison Ports (UK) Ltd., a subsidiary of Hong Kong’s Hutchison Port Holdings, is owner and operators of the Port of Felixstowe.
