PORT OF LOS ANGELES JULY CONTAINER VOLUMES UP 3%
The Port of Los Angeles said its July container volumes increased 3 percent to 451,855 TEUs, compared to the year-earlier period.
Imports also increased 3 percent, to 238,957 TEUs, while exports rose 7 percent to 86,878 TEUs.
For the year to date, container volume totaled 2.83 million TEUs, up 4.5 percent over the same period last year.
Larry Keller, executive director of the Port of Los Angeles, said growth should continue through the rest of the year. “I continue to believe that we will see growing strength in the economy as the year progresses,” he said.
