Port of Los Angeles to get its own TV series

Lights, camera ' intermodalism?

Cable television's National Geographic Channel said it is producing a new series featuring the Port of Los Angeles as its star.

Set to debut April 6, America's Port will be an eight-part weekly series looking at various aspects of operations at the Los Angeles port. The series, which is already being filmed, is being developed by the same production firm that produced the highly-rated Deadliest Catch series for Discovery Channel and the Ice Road Truckers program for The History Channel.

In addition to featuring what the production firm calls 'an insider’s view of this massive complex and the intrepid individuals charged with keeping it running smoothly and securely 365 days a year,' the series will feature interviews with port executives, including Executive Director Geraldine Knatz, the first woman to head the port in it's 100-year history. Other port operations to be featured during the series will be port security efforts, U.S. Customs and Border Protection operations and the port's self-described 'green' growth campaign.
