Port of Marseilles. MSC reach agreement on box terminal    The Port of Marseilles Authority board has approved the terms of the agreement under which Mediterranean Shipping Co. will operate its marine terminal at the port’s new container terminal development, Fos 2XL.
   The agreement is ready to be signed when the French government approves technical and financial details, the port authority said.
   Under the agreement, MSC has been given operating rights for 35 years in return for attracting guaranteed minimum traffic levels. Lease charges would be subject to penalty or bonus depending on whether or not the operator reaches annual targets.
   The MSC terminal will provide 700 meters (2,300 feet) of quay.
   Besides MSC, the other Fos 2XL terminal will be operated by a joint venture between CMA CGM and P&O Ports. The Port of Marseilles Authority expects to review the agreement with the CMA CGM-P&O Ports joint venture by Jan. 31.
