Port of Miami will manage improvements in-house

Port of Miami will manage improvements in-house Port of Miami director Bill Johnson, who supervised some of Broward County's largest construction projects before being selected to run the port, says the port will be directly managing its capital improvement projects from here on out.
   In an interview with the Florida Connection, Johnson said that in the past the port used third party management to oversee capital improvement projects. But since taking over in June he said he has experienced frustrations in overseeing various port improvement projects and has decided the port should manage the projects in house.
   'I've been playing catch up,' he said about supervising capital projects. 'This is unacceptable.'
   He did not cite specific projects, but referring to the situation in general, he commented, 'It's all unacceptable.'
