Port of Montreal cargo volumes rise in 2005    The Port of Montreal announced Friday that in 2005 it reached its second highest cargo volumes in terms of tons in more than 25 years.
   Total cargo volume reached was 24.3 million tons, up 3 percent from 2004. The port handled 1.25 million TEUs (28,264 more than in 2004). It was the fourth consecutive year the port’s containerized traffic has risen to record levels.
   Non-containerized general cargo, made up mainly of copper anodes and cathodes, and steel products, totaled nearly 495,500 tons, down 4 percent from 2004. In 2005, the liquid bulk cargoes rose to 7.4 million tons, an increase of more than 1.1 million tons, or 18.9 percent, over 2004.
