Port of Montreal names Vachon as new CEO

Port of Montreal names Vachon as new CEO    Montreal Port Authority has named Sylvie Vachon, a 19-year veteran at the agency, as its president and chief executive officer.
   Currently vice president of administration and human resources, Vachon has been acting president and CEO since last March when Patrice M. Pelletier left his job at the agency.
   'Following a rigorous candidate search process with an independent firm, the board of directors selected Ms. Vachon because of her long expertise in the marine field and, in particular, at the MPA,' said Michel M. Lessard, port authority chairman, praising Vachon’s thoroughness along with her leadership and rallying personality.
   Vachon 'consults a lot with others and who in her decision-making takes into account the opinions of her colleagues and business partners. I am convinced that, with her, the MPA will efficiently and realistically carry out its strategic development plan in accordance with its clients’ needs and market developments,' Lessard said.
   Pelletier left after serving about a year and half, for what the authority said were “different perspectives' from the board's 'corporate vision.” His predecessor, Dominic Taddeo, served as CEO since 1983.
