Port of Rotterdam receives more gantry cranes for new Euromax terminal
The 53,341 deadweight-ton heavy lift vessel “Zhen Hua 5” arrived at the Port of Rotterdam last Saturday delivering 12 Automated Rail Mounted Gantry Cranes (ARMGs) from Shanghai that will be used in the new ECT Euromax Terminal.
Euromax is due to start first phase operations next year and will increase the Dutch port’s container capacity by 20 percent, roughly an extra 2.3 million TEUs.
In the first phase, the terminal’s equipment will include 58 ARMGs, of which 16 arrived earlier, and also 16 quay cranes, two rail cranes and 96 automatic vehicles.
