PORT OF STOCKTON GETS BOOST IN U.S. FOOD AID CARGO

The Central California port of Stockton has been picked by the U.S. government for the second year in a row to handle the shipment of bagged rice to Uzbekistan.

U.S.-flag carrier Liberty Maritime Corp. will provide the transportation for the 44,000-metric-ton shipment (the equivalent of 1,900 truckloads of bagged rice), which will begin loading the first week of August.
